Can A SEO WordPress Theme Increase Search Traffic Posted: 14 Mar 2010 09:32 PM PDT First, imagine a library. Inside this library, there are thousands of books on different categories, topics and titles. The librarian is one lazy fellow. Other than giving the library a attractive coat of paint, he just loaded the library with all the books he can afford. Of course he stacked the books neatly on shelves but he did not arrange al the books according to their categories and topics. He did not bother even arrange them in alphabetical order. Thus, when someone walks into the library, they have a hard time looking for what they want. The library still functions as a library even though it is all jumbled up. People still comes in because it does have the kind of books they want to read. When they take a casual look, it all looks neat and nice. It is only when they start to look for a particular topic or book do they realize that it is very hard to locate any particular topic. The owner does realize it because he does see scores of people coming in daily, so he thought his library must be okay. What he does not know is, he could actually increase his visitors by at least 2 folds if he had arranged everything perfectly so when newcomers search for something they can find it easily. WordPress Themes too are built that way. The coder knows all the codes and files needed to make their themes runs smoothly. Most do not know how to segregate the files so Search Engines have an easier time when searching the blogs that are running on their Theme. Yes there are ways that good coders can increase the SEO of a Theme and that does not mean just by adding the right H tags, inserting some no-follow links alone or having their codes validated. That is DIY stuff. Pros does it very differently with their Themes. Frankly, there are not that many who codes or can code their Themes this way. Amateur designers who offers free themes definitely do not go through the trouble to do it this way. Many simply do not know how. Those who know will not do it for free as it is very time consuming and mind wreaking. The Thesis Theme is a theme that is craftily structured that way. When you open the Thesis theme folder, you will see that it is not at all like the conventional themes that you have been using. That’s because it is a framework and not simply just a theme per se. A framework is like the foundation and infrastructure of a house. No matter what additional renovations you add in, you are not to mess with foundation or you whole house will coming tumbling down. In the planning stages, you should have strengthened the foundation and added more beams so if you want to add any extra bedroom in the future, you are safe. Theoretically speaking, any theme can be made to be a framework. You can change the looks of your Theme just by tweaking your stylesheet and not mess around with the other template codes. However, if the Theme is not built to be a framework, there are will be limits. Just like the house, normal themes are not coded for major changes. Thus the framework is very important and the Thesis framework is one of a kind. At least it is to me. Files are made to stand and work individually so it loads faster and Search Engines gets the clearest view. They are tightly woven so search juices do not leak to another file. It is just like the pillars of a high rise building built to withstand earthquakes. Each pillar is built to react in it’s own way so as not tho effect the adjacent pillar, thereby pulling down the whole building. Many have complained that they have used lots if Themes that are described as Search Engine Optimized but they did not see any increase in traffic. That’s because they did not use one that is truly optimized. If you have a blog that is already enjoying some search hits because you have done your SEO work, a theme like the Thesis will help you increase your traffic a hundred percent within a month. So if your question is, “Can A SEO WordPress Theme Increase Search Traffic”, the answer is YES, it can. Provided of course, it is truly a SEO Theme like the Thesis.
