5 Gmail Labs Features That You Shoud Use Posted: 30 Jun 2010 07:03 AM PDT Gmail remains as one my favorite programs online. There are many who prefers to use email clients like Outlook to receive and send their emails because of the convenience, I prefer use Gmail ‘physically’ due to the many cool setting that it supports and which cannot be utilized if a third party email client is used. If you click on the Settings tab on the top right corner when you are in Gmail, you can access something called Labs. There you will find a lot of cool features that you can implement and make using Gmail really fun. Here are 5 useful features that I feel should be enabled and use by all Gmail users. There is a warning that says,
But so far nothing fatal has happened to me so rest assured that it is safe to use. Gmail Labs Features That You Should Try Out Undo Send – Oops, hit “Send” too soon? Stop messages from being sent for a few seconds after hitting the send button. After composing your mail and hitting the send, a small message with a yellow background will notify you that your message is being sent. Enabling this feature will add an UNDO option in the message. Within the time span set you you, you have a chance to edit the message or quickly discard the message if you regret what you have written, by clicking UNDO. Extra Emoji – Compose messages with a richer set of emoji characters If you are one who love to use emoticons to express yourself when writing, this feature will add a couple of hundreds more for you to play with. Flickr previews in mail – Shows photos previews whenever you receive a Flickr link in an email. Rather than attaching an image file, all you need now is insert the Flickr link to that image to your mail and the pictures will appear automatically as preview thumbnails Inserting images – Allows you to insert images into a message body. You can upload and insert image files in your computer, or insert images by URLs. This lab will not work if you have offline enabled. Picasa previews in mail – Shows photos previews whenever you receive a Picasa link in an email. Works just like the Flickr feature. More than 40 Other Labs Other than the 5 that I like most, there are more than 40 other Labs that you enable for specified needs. Some useful ones like YouTube embedding has been incorporated and has become a default feature in Gmail as I can’t find that feature anymore in Gmail Labs.
