After getting approved from Union Cabinet on last Thursday. The Indian rupee currency symbol is now the fifth currency in the world to have a distinct identity. The rupee will join the elite club of US dollar, British pound-sterling, Euro and Japanese yen to have its own symbol. It is a perfect blend of Indian and Roman letters: a capital 'R', and Devanagari 'ra', which represent rupiya, to appeal to international and Indian audiences."

Download New Indian Currency Symbol

Download the new font. You will have a .ttf file on your desktop. Head on to the folder 'C:/Windows/Fonts' and paste the .ttf file.

Now, open a word file. Select "Rupee_Foradian" font from the dropdown list of font in your application.
Type the first character on the keyboard. It appears just above the 'tab' key on your keyboard. It will display the new rupee symbol. Enjoy it!
